Deb Neo

Licensed social worker (she/her)

I believe in therapy that is collaborative and is tailored to fit each client's unique needs.

I prefer an eclectic therapy approach, meaning I like to incorporate the most relevant techniques and modalities together for an effective, individualized treatment plan with each client. I believe in a trauma-informed approach that empowers clients to live and make decisions according to their values, in order to promote a rich and meaningful life.

Although I have speciality and experience working with women through perinatal and postpartum mental health, I also enjoy working with men and women of all ages and life stages, ranging from college-aged to older adults. I believe in exploring the role of generational trauma and attachment in a client’s journey. Other populations that I enjoy working with include adult children of emotionally immature parents, survivors of narcissistic parents or relationships, and survivors of sexual.

TRAINING & EDUCATION

I graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Creative Writing in 2018. During that time, it was a writing internship at Community Refugee and Immigration services, where I noticed that working directly with the refugee population, particularly the women, and listening to them tell their stories was the most fulfilling part of the work.

I then continued my education at OSU by completing a Master’s degree in Social Work in 2020. During my program, I worked at Moms2B which is a community perinatal and postpartum education program aimed at targeting infant mortality rates. Moms2B was where I learned that I truly enjoyed working with women navigating the mental health challenges of pregnancy and motherhood. I worked on an interdisciplinary team, offering group and individual mental health services to pregnant and new mothers in the community.

I began working as an individual therapist so I could work more closely with clients in one-on-one settings and have the honor of accompanying them on their mental health journeys. Since starting in private practice, I have really enjoyed the variety of clients with which I’ve worked as well as witnessing the healing power of a collaborative therapeutic space.

The modalities I specialize in include:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Strengths-Based Therapy

  • Somatic-Based Therapy

  • Motivational Interviewing
