Gabby Metzler

Licensed professional counselor (she/her)

I believe therapy is a safe space to collaborate and seek healing.

Gabby Metzler is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Palo Alto University. At PAU, she focused on play therapy, trauma treatment, crisis intervention, and approaches that embrace neurodiversity. Before entering the counseling field, Gabby worked as a professional illustrator. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the George Floyd protests inspired her to dedicate her career to helping others.

In her practice, Gabby adopts a person-centered and trauma-informed approach, skillfully blending techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and somatic therapy. This diverse methodology enables her to customize her therapeutic strategies to fit the distinct needs of each client. Gabby began her journey in the community mental health sector at Mid-Ohio Psychological Services, where she gained invaluable experience addressing a wide array of challenges, including addiction, codependency, domestic abuse, neurodiversity, depression, anxiety, OCD, and complex trauma. Her dedication to fostering resilience and hope in her clients is evident in her compassionate and committed therapy style. Gabby feels privileged to guide individuals on their paths toward healing and self-discovery.

In the therapy world, we have diagnoses for a variety of valid and silly reasons. Diagnoses are not perfect and do not come close to describing any person fully. That being said, I have a good amount of experience in community mental health and private practice working with the following diagnoses:

  • The Autism Spectrum and ADHD (questioning or self-diagnosed is wonderful!)

  • Borderline or Narcissistic tendencies or Borderline Personality disorder and Narcissistic Personality disorder (no shame for diagnoses here)

  • PTSD and Complex Trauma

  • OCD and Anxiety

  • Depression and Bipolar Depression

  • Affirming care for Trans and Queer people
