Prenatal and Postpartum Concerns
Support offered online & in-person
The stages before, during, and after pregnancy can bring a mix of excitement and challenging moments that make navigating mental health more complicated. Support during these times ensures that women feel cared for and empowered to navigate each step with confidence.
Prenatal
The prenatal period is the time during pregnancy before an individual gives birth. An experience full of excitement and preparation, this stage can bring about unexpected changes requiring a level of adjustment.
Symptoms including fatigue, emotional shifts, appetite fluctuations, sleep disturbance, and anxiety, may be met with physical and social changes, complicating an individual’s ability to regulate and manage their mental health. However, with the support of providers specialized in working with expecting mothers, clients can have increased access to support, coping strategies, and holistic tools intended to help them through this unique phase of life.
Postpartum
After giving birth, a woman will enter the postpartum period. In this window of time, women will transition into life with a newborn while working through the physical, emotional, and hormonal changes that follow pregnancy and delivery.
While in the postpartum phase, new mothers may face emotional shifts and feelings of overwhelm as they recover physically and bond with their babies. During this time, mental health providers can offer support by helping women manage stress, prioritize balance, and face challenges such as postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, or psychosis. With this support, new mothers can work to build confidence as they establish emotional wellness for both themselves and their babies.
